Well “The Blacklist” continues to unfold in AMERICAN VAMPIRE and we celebrate with another awesome variant cover from FRANCESCO FRANCAVILLA!
I’ve been a big fan of Francesco’s for a few years (also one of the nicest dudes you’ll ever meet in comics) and it turns out he’s a big fan of the series too! So when I asked him if he’d do a variant cover for us, he leapt at the opportunity to do his version of “our gal Pearl.”
American Vampire summer blockbuster “The Blacklist” celebrates with another variant cover by Dave Johnson!
“The Blacklist” is coming and as I said in my last post—this one changes everything.
We kicked off this massive storyline with a cover by Batman artist Greg Capullo, and this month we’ve got another awesome cover by the great Dave Johnson!
This one changes everything.
I know you hear that all the time in comics, but we REALLY mean it this time. This summer’s blockbuster AMERICAN VAMPIRE storyline is called “The Blacklist,” and the whole gang returns to the place where it all started—Hollywood. But this time it’s the 50’s, so instead of flappers and silent films, tinsel-town is drenched in the fear and paranoia of the Communist “Red Scare.”
Massive turning point. Game-changer. Point of no return…call it what you want, but this one really does change everything.
Hot on the heels of last summer’s award winning mini-series AMERICAN VAMPIRE: Survival of the Fittest with art by Sean Murphy (now collected in AMERICAN VAMPIRE Vol. 3), Vertigo will publish AMERICAN VAMPIRE: Lord of Nightmares a new 5 issue miniseries written by AMERICAN VAMPIRE creator Scott Snyder, with art by Dustin Nguyen (Batman: Streets of Gotham, Detective Comics, Superman/Batman).
WARNING – this primer contains SPOILERS regarding previous issues!!! ROUGH PRIMER on ISSUE #24 of AMERICAN VAMPIRE (PART 3 of 4: “DEATH RACE”) by Scott Snyder TRAVIS 1955. 19 year old punk TRAVIS KIDD is a vampire hunter. One of the best. He’s a rogue. He doesn’t belong to any organization (like the VMS, the secret group in our series that has been tracking and eliminating all species of vampire for centuries). He has been approached by the VMS on many occasions, but he has always turned them down.
As you know by now, American Vampire is rip-roaring through the 50’s with a kick-ass story called “Death Race.” Judging from the reaction I’m seeing on the internetz, you kids love you some Travis Kidd! Well, how about a little sneaky-peak of AMERICAN VAMPIRE 24? In stores this Wednesday! Uh-oh! Things don’t look good for Travis!
If you’re like me, you love the behind-the-scenes stuff. Director’s commentary, original manuscripts, awesome documentaries about the making of an album. I love all this creative process stuff. That’s why I like to PACK the collections of our comics with bonus material. If you don’t have it yet, check out AMERICAN VAMPIRE VOL. 3. Tons of bonus sketches and designs from Rafael Albuquerque and Sean Murphy. Awesome stuff.
