Preview Monday: GREEN ARROW #14 and SWEET TOOTH #39

For this week’s installment of Preview Monday, we’re giving you exclusive first looks at GREEN ARROW #14 and SWEET TOOTH #39.

It’s the second part of “Sky War” as “Hawkman: Wanted” continues in this week’s issue of GREEN ARROW! En route back home from China, Oliver Queen comes across a flock of alien birdmen. In true hero form, he takes matters into his own hands rather that simply sitting aside and watching as the Thangarian police hunting Hawkman continue to infiltrate the Seattle skies. And when things get personal for Ollie and the Warhawks kidnap Emma, he’ll need to turn to Hawkman for help. But will Hawkman’s trackers on the Warhawks make the duo’s mission successful, or will they just be led into a trap? GREEN ARROW #14, in stores on Wednesday, is written by Ann Nocenti and illustrated by Freddie Williams II and Rob Hunter. Click here for an exclusive preview of the issue.

In the penultimate issue of SWEET TOOTH, Gus and Jepperd’s long-winded journey finally comes to its harrowing conclusion. But when Abbot makes Gus his hostage to get Jepperd in their final face-off, who will live and who will die? And what does this threat mean for the future of the hybrid species? Written and illustrated by Jeff Lemire, SWEET TOOTH #39 paves the path for next month’s climactic series finale. Click here for an exclusive preview of the issue, which arrives in stores this week.

Preview Monday: CATWOMAN #13 and AMERICAN VAMPIRE: LORD OF NIGHTMARES #5

For this week’s installment of Preview Monday, we’re giving you exclusive first looks at CATWOMAN #13 and AMERICAN VAMPIRE: LORD OF NIGHTMARES #5.

It’s a game of chess (literally!) and Gotham is the playing board in this prologue to “Death of the Family” in CATWOMAN #13. Selina Kyle is hired to steal a giant chess piece and move its position. But the sacrifice this Queen of Crime needs to make may be too high. Who’s behind all this and how does he know so much about Selina’s past? Written by Ann Nocenti and illustrated by Rafa Sandoval and Jordi Tarragona, CATWOMAN #13 lands in stores on Wednesday. Click here for an exclusive preview of the issue.

It’s the explosive conclusion to AMERICAN VAMPIRE: LORD OF NIGHTMARES! Felicia and Hobbes have finally caught up to Dracula’s coffin in the middle of the Black Sea, but now here comes the hard part – actually destroying it. Left to confront Dracula alone, will Hobbes have the strength to kill the uber-vampire without being killed himself? AMERICAN VAMPIRE: LORD OF NIGHTMARES #5, in stores on Wednesday, comes to you from writer Scott Snyder and artist Dustin Nguyen. Click here to see an exclusive preview of the issue.

Karen Berger and MYSTERY IN SPACE

It's tough to follow up that big bunny from yesterday, but I think this steam-punk angel devising the map of the world will most definitely give you some food for thought.

If you haven't already you must check out the goods behind this beautiful and elegantly drawn cover of the MYSTERY IN SPACE mega-sized one-shot which came out last week. Drawn by Ryan Sook, it's a wonderful example of an illustration that provokes a multitude of ideas and a great sense of wonder. And consider yourself amazingly lucky if you get your hands on the variant cover by the one and only Mike Allred -- a startling "Blue Man" treat with a magic and mystery all its own.  Mike also contributes one of my personal favorite stories in the book-- "Alpha meets Omega", a poignant and trippy tale. Also in the book are stories by Andy Diggle, Michael Kaluta, Ann Nocenti, Kyle Baker, Rob Rodi, Davide Gianflece, Fred Harper ( last seen at Vertigo in ANIMAL MAN of the mid 90s!), Ramon Bachs, Kevin McCarthy, Ming Doyle and debut Vertigo work by Francesco Trifogli ( who you will be seeing more from later this year), Steve Orlando, Sebastian Fiumara, and award-winning fantasy writer Nnedi Okorafor!

Just like STRANGE ADVENTURES and THE UNEXPECTED anthologies we published over the last year, MYSTERY IN SPACE showcases incredible stories from many delightfully twisted talents, so be sure to get yourself a copy.

And may your mysteries be many!
