News from FABLESCON

If you weren’t able to make it to FABLESCON this weekend, don’t fret. Here’s a roundup of the FABLES related the news and good times had by all.

On Friday, during Mark Buckingham’s Guest of Honor speech, it was announced that DC Collectibles will be producing gorgeous bookends designed by the FABLES ongoing series artist.  See them here.

On Saturday, it was announced that Vertigo will be publishing THE FABLES COMPANION written by pop culture scholar Jess Nevins. You can read more here.

Following the recent announcement that the next FAIREST story arc will feature everyone’s favorite shoe loving secret agent Cinderella and will be written by Marc Andreyko with art by Shawn McManus. Check out the image we revealed in the previous post.

And, for those of you who are gamers, or plan to be, now that you know there’s a FABLES video game arriving this summer, Telltale discussed he game and revealed some sneak peeks. Get ready to embark on the magical adventure.

Vertigo Announces more Artists for FAIREST: IN ALL THE LAND at FABLESCON

Today at the FAIREST panel at FABLESCON, more of the amazing artists that will be working on this Fall’s graphic novel FAIREST: IN ALL THE LAND were confirmed. So, in addition to Adam Hughes, Chrissie Zullo, Mark Chiarello, Karl Kerschl, we’ll be seeing some superb visuals from Gene Ha, Chris Sprouse, Renae De Liz, and Phil Noto!

And following the FAIREST arc written by Sean E. Williams with art by Stephen Sadowski and Phil Jimenez, featuring the Indu Fables, Bill Willingham revealed earlier this week with NEWSARAMA, that Cinderella is back. Here’s a first look at an interior image by Sean McManus that was shown at the panel.

Preview Monday: JUSTICE LEAGUE #14 and FABLES #123

Welcome back for another installment of Preview Monday! This week we’re giving you exclusive first looks at JUSTICE LEAGUE #14 and FABLES #123.

 

Following the exciting events of JUSTICE LEAGUE #13, Superman has turned against his team after being bitten by the Cheetah. This week, “The Secret of the Cheetah” concludes as the Justice League ventures deep into the Congo in search of Barbara Minerva. Without the help of the Man of Steel, the League must now rely on a local tribe for a way to defeat the Goddess of the Hunt and save their teammate. Will they succeed or will Superman remain a wild beast? And in the back-up story, Black Adam discovers the many ways the world has changed since his imprisonment. In FABLES #123, “The Destiny Game” reaches its conclusion. In the issue, Ambrose continues his story about the early adventures of his father, Bigby Wolf. After meeting a mysterious green woman who reveals his terrible fate, Bigby has become depressed. It takes a soft-spoken turtle to lift his spirits once again by revealing the woman’s secret. But can the wolf use this secret to change his fate or is it too late? Also included is the continuing back-up story, “A Revolution in Oz”. It’s that time of year again!

 

Free Comic Book Day is tomorrow and DC Entertainment is proud to participate with the must-have DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 FCBD Edition. Hot on the heels of the historic launch of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, this exclusive FCBD issue will feature reveals and surprises, offering a tantalizing glimpse into what’s still to come for 2012.

Preview Mondays: ACTION COMICS #9 and SWEET TOOTH #33

For this week’s installment of Preview Mondays, we’re giving you exclusive first looks at ACTION COMICS #9 and SWEET TOOTH #33.


With guest artist Gene Ha joining regular series writer Grant Morrison, ACTION COMICS #9 features a standalone tale of an alternate Superman on a parallel Earth. Returning to the comic book page with his debut in DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, this Superman of Earth 23 is now confronted with a rift between worlds, and faced with a monstrous Superman surrogate from another Earth gone horribly wrong.
 
The issue also features a back-up story by writer Sholly Fisch and artist Cully Hamner, which showcases this alternate Superman and his adventures on Earth 23.


Click here for an exclusive preview of the issue, highlighting the heroic origin of this alternate Man of Tomorrow – whose secret identity is Earth 23’s United States President, Calvin Ellis.

And SWEET TOOTH #33 features the continuing adventures of the big man and the boy, as they traverse the apocalyptic wasteland.
