Announcing Canadian Vampire

WonderCon attendees got chills when Vertigo announced a new American Vampire spinoff this weekend that will be set in Canada and boast an exciting script co-written by Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire.

April Fool's!!!

We were at WonderCon this weekend and certainly revealed plenty of great stuff during our panels, but we’re pretty sure Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire are a little busy to be cooking up silly spinoffs and that Batman would fail to see the humor in letting Alfred E. Neuman anywhere near the Batcave.

Yes, in honor of April 1st (which also happens to be Alfred E. Neuman’s birthday), both DCComics.com and VertigoComics.com were given fake homepage slides. So whether you were fooled by DC Comics’ promise of a new Robin or Vertigo’s Canadian Vampire announcement, congratulations. You’ve been had.

But don’t sweat it. April Fool’s Day is supposed to be fun, and that’s all this little stunt was about. Even better, we’re not about to stop. There’s plenty of April Foolery to be had in comic shops this month. Why, have you seen our 13 MAD variant covers?

You haven’t?! Well, you can look for them gracing some of your favorite DC COMICS – THE NEW 52 titles all month long. Or you can just click here to see them all.

On behalf of all of us at DC Entertainment, have a happy April 1st!

COLLIDER and TRILLIUM art revealed at WonderCon Anaheim

Today, on the DC Entertainment—All Access panel at WonderCon Anaheim art from two of Vertigo’s new mind bending sci-fi comic book series were debuted.

Launching this July, COLLIDER is a new ongoing series by Simon Oliver and artist Robbi Rodriguez that takes the laws of physics, the constants we all know, and twists them up side down into a reality that is completely unpredictable.

Check out the cover of issue #1, by Nathan Fox, in the gallery above.

Following the conclusion of Jeff Lemire’s acclaimed series SWEET TOOTH, he returns to Vertigo this summer as writer/artist of the new limited series TRILLIUM. Bound to be one of Lemire’s most ambitious stories yet, at its core, it’s a love story about two disparate souls separated by thousands of years and hundreds of millions of miles.

Get ready to be captivated.

SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE, VOL. 2 Debuts at #1 on THE NEW YORK TIMES’ Hardcover Graphic Books Best Seller List

On Friday, THE NEW YORK TIMES published their Graphic Books Best Sellers Lists and debuting at #1 on the Hardcover list was SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE, VOL. 2.

The highly anticipated sequel to the #1 New York Times best-selling graphic novel SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE, this new original graphic novel reunites acclaimed writer J. Michael Straczynski (BEFORE WATCHMEN, BRAVE AND THE BOLD, BABYLON 5) and superstar artist Shane Davis (GREEN LANTERN, SUPERMAN/BATMAN).

In SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE, VOL. 2, a young Clark Kent, while slightly more settled in Metropolis from when we last left him, is still struggling to find his footing both as a reporter and as his superhero alter-ego, Superman. When a powerful new villain threatens Metropolis and drains him of all his powers, Superman will learn for the first time what it means to be vulnerable -- in other words, what it means to be truly human.

AQUAMAN, BATGIRL and SWEET TOOTH spotlighted in THE NEW YORK TIMES’ 2012 Graphic Novel Holiday Gift Guide

Last week, we told you about the various DCE titles making the best-of-the-year lists over at AMAZON.COM and BARNES AND NOBLE.

Today, we’re pleased to announce that THE NEW YORK TIMES has published their 2012 Holiday Gift Guide, and making the Graphic Novels list was AQUAMAN, VOL. 1: THE TRENCH and BATGIRL, VOL. 1: THE DARKEST REFLECTION.

“Two of the best series to emerge from DC Comics’ decision to reintroduce its heroes feature characters that embrace what came before and move forward,” wrote THE NEW YORK TIMES. “In AQUAMAN: THE TRENCH, the writer Geoff Johns is providing the building blocks to make the undersea hero an A-lister, and the artwork by Ivan Reis is magnificent. Over in BATGIRL: THE DARKEST REFLECTION, Gail Simone has returned Barbara Gordon to the cowl, after a miraculous end to her paralysis at the hands of the Joker — though the post-traumatic stress lingers.”

Also mentioned on the list was Jeff Lemire’s SWEET TOOTH, which THE NEW YORK TIMES described as “engrossing.” Click here to check out the full list and congratulations to all!
