Sneak Peek inside GHOSTS featuring “Treasure Lost”

We’re back with another installment from GHOSTS!

Just in time for Halloween, Vertigo has compiled a slew of dark and dangerous stories that are primed to get you in the spirit! GHOSTS is an anthology of short stories from some of the biggest talents in the industry. Arriving in stores on October 31, this collection features a space heist on a ghost ship, a spirit who wants to play synthesizer in a techno band, a ghost-for-hire haunting agency and other dark and twisted tales best read under the sheets with a flashlight.

Throughout the week we’re spotlighting a piece of art from several of the stories included in the collection. Next up, “Treasure Lost” a story by Paul Pope (BATMAN: Year 100, WEDNESDAY COMICS) with art by Pope and a script by David Lapham (DIAL H,YOUNG LIARS).

“It was a great thrill to work with Jared, Lovern, and David. We got a chance to flex some Metal Hurlant muscles,” says artist Paul Pope. “I gave Lovern a selection of photographic slides of oil smears to use for the textures, to give the color some extra richness. He knocked it out of the park on the colors... This little strip is a tribute to Moebius and Robert Louis Stephenson. A "ghost" story of a different stripe.”

Now, see what Paul is talking about. Check out the page of art below with colors by Lovern Kindzierski.

What else?

Vampires? Check.

Compelling characters? Hell, yes.

National bestselling co-writer? You might have heard of him: Stephen King.

And then there’s the series creator: Scott Snyder. Snyder is a tremendous new writer with a fresh voice. AMERICAN VAMPIRE is his first gig on an ongoing series, and it’s rendered tremendous word of mouth and acclaim. We’re thrilled to announce that he’s just signed an exclusive contract with DC COMICS. So what’s he writing in addition to AMERICAN VAMPIRE?
