Preview Monday: WONDER WOMAN #19 and FABLES #128

Welcome back for another installment of Preview Monday! This week, we’re giving you exclusive first looks at WONDER WOMAN #19 and FABLES #128!

This month, WONDER WOMAN launches an explosive new story arc. “Don’t miss issue #19,” writer Brian Azzarello teased to COMIC VINE about the series a few weeks ago. “I don’t think Superman would approve.” Well when BUZZFEED exclusively debuted the full gatefold cover for WONDER WOMAN #19 depicting Diana and Orion in a passionate liplock, fans began to understand what Azzarello might have been alluding to. Also in WONDER WOMAN #19, Poseidon shares a piece of information with the First Born that puts Zola’s son in immediate danger. But will Wonder Woman and her army be able to protect him when her team is unraveling from the inside out? Find out in WONDER WOMAN #19, in stores on Wednesday, written by Brian Azzarello and illustrated by Goran Sudzuka, Tony Akins, and Dan Green.

Meanwhile over in Fablestown, “Snow White” continues with its fourth chapter. In FABLES #128, Bigby howls back to Castle Dark for a showdown with Prince Brandish for the hand of his/their wife, Snow White. But unbeknownst to Bigby, any physical harm that he inflicts on Prince Brandish will also be felt by Snow White, who remains locked away in her tower. Will Bigby be able to save his wife before he accidentally kills her? Or will Prince Brandish defeat the mighty wolf? In stores this Wednesday, FABLES #128 is written by Bill Willingham and illustrated by Mark Buckingham, Steve Leialoha, and Andrew Pepoy.

From the Editor’s Desk: Karen Berger on A.D.D.

"The media is the message." It's not quite the Marshall McLuhan mantra but it's close. And no one knows media and its messaging better than Douglas Rushkoff, who in one of his many lives is a prominent writer, speaker, communicator, documentarian, and ultimate guru of modern media and its effects, both good and bad on society. Several years ago, after Douglas finished his series TESTAMENT, the heady historical, near futuristic mash-up of the Old Testament, technology, and economic politics, we were talking about his next project for Vertigo. Somewhere between conversations about professional teenage video game players in South Korea who are plucked out of school and treated like rock stars, behavioral spectrum disorders, Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go and the ubiquitous mall culture that is America, Douglas came up with this smart, thrilling and sensitive story of the A.D.D. kids: Lionel, Takei, Kasinda, Matt and the doomed Tiger-Beat Idol, Karl. I immediately loved the idea and with Goran Sudzuka (and Jose Marzan Jr) to beautifully realize these incredible characters, we had ourselves a very special book, in a very snazzy red and white compact package. Check out some of my favorite moments from the story, and better yet, grab yourself a copy of the graphic novel, just out this week in comic shops, and next week in the mainstream book market. And for all you A Clockwork Orange fans, you'll be treated to some new lingo that may very well might be the language of tomorrow.

A.D.D. Cover Reveal

The Adolescent Demo Division (A.D.D.) are the world’s luckiest teen gamers. Raised from birth to test media, appear on reality TV and enjoy the fruits of corporate culture, the squad develop special abilities that make them the envy of the world—and a grave concern to their keepers.

One by one, they “graduate” to new levels that are not what they seem. But their heightened abilities can only take them so far as the ultimate search for their birth families proves to be a most harrowing discovery.

An original graphic novel, written by Douglas Rushkoff, world renowned media theorist and with art and cover by Goran Sudzuka and Jose Marzan, Jr, A.D.D. hits stores in January 2012.
