NEW ROMANCER is a clever mashup of rom-com, cyberthriller and supernatural sci-fi that features a reanimated Lord Byron running rampant across Silicon Valley pursued by a young Byron-obsessed developer who’s inadvertently behind his resurrection. It comes courtesy of Vertigo stalwart Peter Milligan and stylish new artist Brett Parson and with Issue #2 now in stores, we thought it would be a great time to ask the two creators for a little commentary on last month’s debut.
Peter Milligan and Brett Parson’s NEW ROMANCER is a romantic comedy with sci-fi undertones. It tells the somewhat sordid story of Lexy Ryan, a lovelorn computer programmer working for a soon-to-be-shut-down dating website who inadvertently finds herself getting caught up with a newly revived Lord Byron and other legendary romantics…some of whom take the love-and-war thing a little too literally.
In NEW ROMANCER, the new scifi-tinged romantic comedy from writer and Vertigo stalwart Peter Milligan and artist Brett Parson, Lexy, a gifted young computer coder finds things heating up (though perhaps not how she might have expected) after she reconstructs and accidentally unleashes some of the greatest lovers from throughout history. However, not all these lovers are interested in romantic pursuit.
Vertigo continues to defy genres with the announcement of the new 8-issue comic book miniseries THE NAMES. Written by the legendary Peter Milligan with art by Leandro Fernandez this fast paced and exciting new series set in New York City follows the wife of trader Kevin Walker after his apparent suicide.
