PROCESS: Vertigo Quarterly: SFX-BANG!

Krak. Slam. Pop. And now…BANG!

For the last year, Vertigo has celebrated the art of the sound effect in comics by releasing anthologies in which creators use the chosen effect as inspiration. The short stories they’ve created have ranged from the serious to the absurd, with settings both realistic and fantastical.

Last Gang in Town: Where Were You in '77?

Pitch the thieving heart of Ocean’s Eleven into a blender with a gin-and-puke-soaked copy of “Never Mind the Bollocks,” a touch of The Usual Suspects and an old copy of MAD Magazine (back when it used to be a little dirty) and you may just end up with Simon Oliver and Rufus Dayglo’s LAST GANG IN TOWN—a crazed crime caper that’s rude, crass and possibly the funniest thing you’ll read this season.

Lucifer: Comic Drake Recaps His Comic Book History

Lucifer, the brand new #DCTV show based on the classic Vertigo series, premieres tonight. That doesn’t give you a lot of time to get caught up on his 25-year comic book history. (Though you’re welcome to try. Lucifer’s original series as well as his brand new comic are both available digitally.) Fortunately, thanks to our friend Comic Drake, you don’t have to.

DC All Access - Who is Lucifer?

DC All Access is giving the devil his due! In this new clip, we look at Lucifer Morningstar's compelling comic book history, from his debut in the pages of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman to his new ongoing Vertigo series by Holly Black and Lee Garbett, all in time for his small screen debut.

Lucifer premieres on Fox at 9 p.m. (6 p.m.) on Monday, January 25th. For more on the character: http://www.vertigocomics.com/blog/2015/12/16/lucifer-101-what-you-need-to-know

Creator Commentary: New Romancer #1

NEW ROMANCER is a clever mashup of rom-com, cyberthriller and supernatural sci-fi that features a reanimated Lord Byron running rampant across Silicon Valley pursued by a young Byron-obsessed developer who’s inadvertently behind his resurrection. It comes courtesy of Vertigo stalwart Peter Milligan and stylish new artist Brett Parson and with Issue #2 now in stores, we thought it would be a great time to ask the two creators for a little commentary on last month’s debut.

Step-by-Step: Creating the Slash & Burn #3 Cover

Who says you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover? When the series is SLASH & BURN, the cover art is by the remarkable Tula Lotay and her process involves multiple steps that include everything from watercolor to photography, we’re not sure we agree. With SLASH & BURN #3 in stores today, we asked Lotay if she’d mind taking us through her process, step-by-step.
