On Saturday in Toronto, Jeff Lemire (Trillium, Green Arrow, Animal Man, "Trinity War") was honored as the winner of the Joe Shuster Award for Best Cartoonist/Auteur for his work on Sweet Tooth #29-40 (DC Comics) and The Underwater Welder (Top Shelf).
Established in 2004, The Joe Shuster Awards are Canada’s first national and bilingual award recognizing outstanding achievement in the creation of comic books, graphic novels and webcomics.
When it comes to defying expectations, look no further than Vertigo.
A mature readers imprint of DC Comics, Vertigo has long upheld a standard of mind-bendingly awesome storytelling with such award-winning classics like V for Vendetta, Hellblazer, Preacher, 100 Bullets, Fables, Y: The Last Man, Neil Gaiman's Sandman (all of which easily rank as some of our favorite comic series of all time), and so much more.
SPOILER ALERT: If you have not read TRILLIUM #1 yet and do not wish to know what happens, stop reading this post now (major spoilers ahead!).
No matter which way you start reading TRILLIUM #1, midway through the comic book you come to the exact same point in both stories: a single frame where our protagonists come face-to-face with the other—catching a glimpse, for the first time, of the person they’re destined to love.
Jeff Lemire [SWEET TOOTH, ANIMAL MAN, GREEN ARROW, TRINITY WAR] brings his talent to the new sci-fi love story TRILLIUM.
BLASTR gave us the exclusive first look inside the comic book, where we learn a bit about Nika and William and the reader decides which character’s story to begin with.
Lemire is not just the writer, he’s also the artist.
Yes, we know. You’re hungry for more “Trinity War.” Believe us, so are we, and the next installment will be here soon (next week, as a matter of fact). But that doesn’t mean that we’re taking a break this week. No, if you’re following “Trinity War,” then you definitely want to pick up TRINITY OF SIN: THE PHANTOM STRANGER #11 this week for a key part of the story. Who truly murdered Doctor Light?
